Looking to join our “family” of collectors and owners who appreciate the quality, reliability, and serviceability built into V-M products? There are some resellers listed on our Links page. In addition, here are some suggestions - thanks to emails from all of you...
1. The auction sites - www.ebay.com being mentioned most frequently. A simple title search on "Voice of Music" will convince you that a selection of V-M products are for sale every day! If you buy from an auction, be sure to tell the seller that you expect and will pay for good packaging. Please see FAQ number Q6 for detailed recommendations.
2. Right in your own back yard! Many new owners have discovered treasures in their own family! Aunt Carol’s fabulous V-M console that she needs to find a new home for because she is moving. Grandma’s phonograph in the basement. Cousin Frank’s tape recorder stuffed in a closet.
3. Garage sales, flea markets, and thrift shops. If you frequent these often, eventually you will find something and probably cheap. Learning the characteristics of a V-M record changer by studying the examples on the Product Photos page will help you increase your odds of finding a Zenith, Motorola, or other brand with a V-M record changer.
4. Old radio club/Ham radio club/Antique audio club swap meets. Many states and cities have these clubs and associations. They have "swap meets" periodically during the year and mostly, these are open to the public. A library or internet search should help you find what organizations are local. Although the main theme may be "radio," go anyway - it is amazing what turns up for sale at these events.
5. School auctions. Many schools purchased V-M tape recorders and manual play phonographs in the 1960’s that were the same units offered for sale to consumers. When the A/V line designed expressly for institutions appeared in the mid-1960’s, these were also snapped up. Today, many of these rugged units are being cleaned out by schools at auctions. Parts & Accessories are available for these V-M products as well!
